The Costas of Andalucía
Four coasts, four very different characters. Mediterranean or Atlantic, built-up or wild — here is how they differ and which one suits you.
Which coast should you choose?
Choose the Costa del Sol for transport, hotel choice, winter infrastructure and easy family logistics. It is the most developed coast, but also the easiest if you want beaches without sacrificing restaurants and day trips.
Choose the Costa de la Luz for Atlantic beaches, surf, tuna, sherry country and a wilder feel. Distances are longer and the wind matters, but the landscape is less built-up and often more Spanish in high summer.
Choose the Costa Tropical or Costa de Almería for a quieter Mediterranean trip. Granada's coast is compact and dramatic, while Almería is drier, emptier and best for Cabo de Gata, diving and desert-meets-sea scenery.
Costa del Sol
150km of developed Mediterranean coast — the warmest sea, the most reliable sun, the most infrastructure.
